That's the part that cracked me up on Twitter.
All these Bears fans like "get ready to suck, Mahomes!!!" as though Nagy wasn't his QB coach and OC as a rookie. Or that Nagy didn't get Alex Smith to throw for 4k yards.
I mean it's just odd.
Nagy's a hell of a coach. He may not be a HC (then again, a lot of the mess in Chicago may not have been directly his fault), but there's little arguing with his track record as an offensive assistant.

Nagy simply doesn't have the power here to effect that. He's fine in QBC role. For that matter, it probably wouldn't matter if he were OC either, even though he'd have control of the offense, because you don't need to dumb down the offense for Mahomes. [Reply]

It's a good get.
I’ll be interested to see the dynamic between Nagy and EB. EB was obviously over Kafka but Nagy probably holds more weight with the experience that he has. [Reply]

The problem is that Nagy was so damn trapped in the middle.
He had 2 COMPLETELY dissimilar QBs.
There's no system you can install that makes Andy Dalton AND Fields look good simultaneously. He knew he had to develop Fields but he also knew that Fields wasn't ready yet (his play on the field demonstrated that pretty clearly). Additionally, he probably understood he was coaching for his job, so he had to win some games and Dalton was the best opportunity there.
Trying to figure out a system that could allow him to win with Dalton while developing Fields was just impossible. And as a lame duck coach he couldn't just throw Fields to the wolves and write off 2021.
He just didn't have a prayer last season unless Field hit the ground as a guy who could win games at this level. Fields didn't. [Reply]

Yeah…I’m not sure what the fuck Chicago was doing. [Reply]

Him and Veach are obviously close.
You would have to think that Nagy wouldn’t want to go to a shit organization again. Why not just stick around as OC here until Reid retires and take over this one. [Reply]

I don’t think Nagy will be Reid’s successor. I still think that’s Kafkas job. [Reply]
People want new blood for new fresh ideas I do too. However imo, I look at it like Andy has been in the business a long time and wants to surround himself with people he already knows and yes probably friendships. Nagy is like going to the restaurant and ordering the same food every single time even though every single time you look at the menu and look at all the other delicious choices.
Andy doesn't really want to let go of EB because he is also that comfort feeling, because change is harder in life than keeping the same people around you. [Reply]
