Usually I like to watch a couple days of highlights after our Super Bowl wins (talk about words I never thought my fingers would type! :-)) and then focus on free agency and the draft. I like to decompress a bit from thinking about what next season will bring.
Not this time though. We have a chance to do something no other NFL team has ever done, and I can't wait. Packers didn't do it, Steelers didn't do it, Niners didn't do it, Patriots didn't do it. Nobody has done it. Ever. We would be the first team to win 3 straight SBs, and I couldn't be more stoked about it. Next season can't get here soon enough! [Reply]
I assume Veach is going to make good acquisitions to build up that offensive weapons room.
But the biggest obstacle for the Chiefs, I think, is going to be how they go about replacing Chris Jones? I still think it's far more possible than not that he walks. And if he does, how on earth do you replace him? What does the defense even look like? Does it need to change?
If they can figure that out while they stock Mahomes up with weapons, the next Super Bowl is ours to lose.

Mike Greenberg this morning made a point, he said if you are a stud NFL player especially a WR and you want a ring - Kansas City is the move. Take less coin, get the bling. [Reply]

Makes perfect sense to me, but the reality is it hasn't really shook out like that for us... seems like most guys are more about maximum money [Reply]
Looked it up the other day and noticed no team has made it back to the Super Bowl a 3rd time after repeating, and was curious what other teams have done and why.
Didn't dig too much into the why.... in a few cases, it was obvious from a coach or QB retiring or injured players. And sometimes football is hard.... several of these teams (not the Broncos, lol) were still very good.
Packers, '68, 6-7-1, didn't make playoffs, Vince Lombardi retired
Dolphins, '74, 11-3, lost divisional round @Raiders 28-26, 'Sea of Hands'
Steelers, '76, 10-4, lost AFCCG @Raiders 24-7, Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier both injured
Steelers, '80, 9-7, didn't make playoffs, aging team (many players retired after this season)

Imaging going back to Memorial Day of 2013 when the Royals were in last place and the Chiefs were coming off a 2-14 season and knowing you were about to see a decade with 2 World Series, 4 Super Bowls, 1 MLB championship, and 3 NFL titles over the next decade.
