For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

Nah, I just thought it was funny.

I think it's also funny that you seem to think so many people here have an issue with Christians (or religious folk) being on the Royals. It's about WHO is religious and is it influencing their playing time? Witt Jr. was the #1/#2 prospect in all of baseball going into the season. That and his strong spring is what caused him to be in the Bigs getting regular P.T., not his religious affiliation. OTOH, if a shitty player like O'Hearn is getting regular P.T. (he's not now, but he was) who probably has no business being on a MLB roster and he happens to also be a religious guy, it makes you wonder. Especially with some of the shit that supposedly went on in St. Louis while Matheny was there.

But setting all that aside, Matheny's teams (Cards and Royals) have consistently been at the bottom of baseball for defense and baserunning and he overuses certain bullpen guys (Barlow and Rosenthal, for instance) that tends to lead to more arm injuries. He's a terrible tactical manager and he also retains coaches (Eldred) who can't seem to get through to their players.

He's a shitty manager. Period. Regardless of what you believe or don't believe about his religious affiliation and Bible thumping in the clubhouse.

He needs to go!

Full trade:

Per @JoelSherman1, Hosmer also headed to Nationals.

Well there goes Hosmer's return to the K with the Padres in late August.

Talk about pressure. It's interesting though because Hosmer has kind of thrown shade at the Padres front office saying things they've done wouldn't have happened in KC. He could try to screw them over here.

CORRECTION: The Nationals are on Eric Hosmer's 10-team no-trade list. He would have to give his consent to be in a deal with Washington.

Hosmer's agent reps like 4 players in this deal. If he veto'd it he'd be dead by morning.

Not to mention Padres fans. If he vetoed it there's no way he could play a game in San Diego ever again.

Boras will get him a deal to make it worth it.

Apparently Hosmer said no and they reworked the deal without him.

100% chance of him getting shipped elsewhere by the end of this deadline.

Well they just traded all of their best pieces to sell Hosmer with. Unless the Padres want to trade Campusano and a team thinks that is enough to take on Hosmer, then he's going nowhere.

Someone lock Dayton in a closet to make sure he doesn’t try to acquire Hosmer

Fucking awkward as hell with Hoz...what good is a no-trade clause if your team is just going to package you in a trade anyway and let you look like an asshole trying to get out of it? I assume he'll get compensated, but kind of a shitty way for this to go down.

Morosi on MLB Network says Hosmer and the Padres are still talking through it. Says the trade will go through either way.

I can see it though, Hosmer's made $100 million and won a World Series and accomplished a lot of great things, I doubt he feels the need to accommodate anyone. Especially when he feels like the Padres front office hasn't treated him well.
