He’s been paid $90m thru end of year and returned $2.5M
We won that one.

SDP's are still on the hook for $39MM over the next 3 years.....yikes.

Hoz 10&5 kicks in after this year where he can veto any trade, so they need to do something with him asap beforehand. Becasue he ain’t leaving 3-39 on the table living in sunny SD and prob playing a bench role as the franchise funds his retirement account

Kevin Acee says they aren't focusing on moving him, probably because what it is going to take to move him is going to be some pieces involved in a Soto deal. Hosmer going to end his career in SD.

Talk about being transactional:

Brewers close to moving closer Josh Hader, sources tell @TheAthletic. Padres strongly in mix.

This article is by Jeremy Greco. Don't know who he is but, in the article, I found this line troubling;

"Many are concerned with recent word coming out of the Royals’ front office that the Royals will not be doing any more trades before the deadline in a mere three days’ time."

Has anyone else heard that the Royals are done dealing before the deadline?

That said: The Padres didn’t give up any of the main prospects they’ve been talking about in myriad other deals. C.J. Abrams, Robert Hassell III, James Wood and Jackson Merrill all remain, as does MacKenzie Gore. Could the Padres really pull off a Juan Soto-Josh Hader double?

I think he's taking and running with JJ's comment late last week:

But in the next 24-to-48 hours, we’ll have a more clear picture of who seriously wants to get some of the players on this team, and I think that will be interesting. I don’t know where it will go.”

Really weird that a 1st place team trades an elite closer to a wild card team in their own league.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they are done. Whit has no value really, Barlow and Staumont have been so inconsistent they may worth more to us now and other teams later. Don’t really have to move those guys right now.

He should but if they were gonna do it, they would have did it by now.

Maybe I'm impatient but, I want to see Massey and Waters playing for the Royals this year. It'd be hard to call them up with Merrifield and Taylor still on the team. There aren't enough positions for everyone.

Just think the Royals deal was the opposite. Paid less in front and more on back end.

Still out of that core that would have been the only one to give a long term to and looks like we avoided one.

THERE'S THE BIG ONE

We have acquired LHP Anthony Misiewicz from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash considerations. Misiewicz has been added to the 40-man roster and optioned to Omaha (AAA).
