Nzoner's Game Room>***Official 2023 Royals Season Repository Thread***
ChiefsCountry 12:02 AM 01-01-2023

2023 – A new beginning for the Royals. Matt Quatraro era begins. A year to see which of our young players will make up the core going forward. Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

I saw that and wondered who the last Royals pitcher to win that award was. It's been 14 years which is crazy.

Definitely looks like the best deadline deal the Royals have made in a long time.

For overall talent received and what was given up it might be the best Royals trade of all time.

That would be the Amos Otis trade.

I really hope Dayton was a part of those discussions that landed us Ragans.

If we suppose Ragans will be healthy the new few years, that completely changes the post-mortem of the 2023 season. A clear #1 starter just fell on our lap.

This terrible record doesn't paint quite the bleak picture it did a few months ago before Ragans and Witt's breakout. Additionally, some of the younger hitters may pan out.

The best bet is that Ragans will be on the shelf most of next year. That is how it works with his uptick in velocity.

I still can’t believe this.

This is like Arrieta to the Cubs, guys. He just made a couple modifications and added a pitch and all of a sudden his stuff jumped up and the new pitch made everything else better.

Ragans and Singer fronting the rotation is something you can build from and hope on.

Enough that I’ll clamor for a free agent addition at SP and a LH hitting OF with pop.

Honestly, if you could add Cody Bellinger to this team for 24 you could really be in business.

Garcia - 3B
Witt - SS
Bellinger - CF
Perez - C
Pasquantino - 1B
Massey - 2B
Loftin - DH/UTIL
Melendez - LF
Waters - RF

That. Is interesting.

How do you get a bullpen though?

If Ragans is an actual legit ace, then I don't see how that trade beats this one.

So far today he's at 3 IP 0 hits 0 BBs 4 Ks.

I keep waiting for the dream to end, but he just keeps going out and dominating. He legit looks like the best pitcher in baseball right now. It's insane.

Salvy said Ragans had the best month of any pitcher he had ever caught
