And this might be the other end of the trade market. Brewers just got Eduardo Escobar, who is a 3B/SS/2B with some pop, 30+ HR guy. Brewers gave up a 26 year old AAA catcher and a 18 year old rookie ball infielder, neither is in their top 30 prospects list.
Arizona will receive Cooper Hummel, an outfielder who also plays first base and catcher, and infielder Alberto Ciprian from Milwaukee in exchange for Escobar, per source.
How ballsy would you be willing to be to do a trade with the White Sox for Whit? They need a 2nd baseman bad. I would take Jake Burger in a heart beat for our future 3rd baseman plus whatever else you might get from their system. [Reply]
The Texas Rangers will receive RHP Glenn Otto, 2B Ezequiel Duran, SS Josh Smith and 2B/OF Trevor Hauver as part of the package from the New York Yankees in the Joey Gallo trade, sources tell ESPN.
Rangers are getting massive haul of prospects in this deal. Others involved, too.

Dayton isn't trading Whit for anything in the world. [Reply]
Yeah in some ways it's probably not a bad haul... Gallo's under contract for another year so it's not a rental. They got a lot of depth but Rangers fans are definitely not happy, Gallo was a fan favorite, the Rangers have a brand new stadium, and they didn't get any of the Yankees top 10 prospects in return, although it appears the guys they did get seem to be playing well in the minors and are in that 15-30 range. The team rankings are outdated.
Not in the trade, but if you go by team rankings, Yankees SS/2B Anthony Volpe is No. 11 in MLB Pipeline and No. 17 in Baseball America. Volpe was just in the top 50 overall for all 30 MLB teams in the Baseball Prospectus and Keith Law midseason updates, and top 100 for Baseball America.
JJ Cooper says Ezequiel Duran and Josh Smith are both top 10 guys if the team rankings were updated. [Reply]
