I think their coach is the real deal. Cuonzo just loved to do less with more. The fact that Gates has pulled the start of this season off with this roster shows the team has clearly bought into his vision. [Reply]

The players seem to absolutely love the guy. He's by far the best most competent coach we've had since Mike Anderson. [Reply]

Yep, and this one's not running an outdated 90's ball offense (hell that seemed to be an issue for a lot of your coaches after Mike, too).

I can't get into saying Big12 Big12 Big12 over and over.
Yeah I know Big 12 coaches are pushing that they're the SEC of hoops (B12 has made the last three title games, won the last two, and had the consensus #1 team at the end of the three seasons - making essentially four years of dominant hoops). Scott Drew has been really pushing that narrative alongside other B12 coaches.
But man, I will never, ever not smile at watching Texas hoops get piss-pounded despite having every resource in the world. Compared to my SEC friends who cheer for their biggest rival if they're playing out of conference? I just don't get that. If Texas fans are ever cheering for Texas A&M down the line, that's just a bridge that will be hard for me to understand :-) [Reply]

Any coach that has a 195 defensive ranking for their team at this point of the season will not succeed in the long run, imo. He even has old players so if anything they should be able to instill good defensive values. Their system lets up to many easy buckets when scouted properly. [Reply]
