Posting this as a repository for random training camp content. Glad to see Andy moving around today without the cane.

And I guess the main advantage of waivers is they're eligible for the practice squad if they clear.

I wonder if there's a quota of waive versus release.

Also I assume veterans of a certain status can't be waived?

Powell is a 6th rounder, and was a late bloomer in college. He is the *perfect* PS candidate. I hope he sprains a toe this weekend and ends up on IR.

Thought this exact same thing last week. Blows my mind that teams use a roster spot for someone who's exclusively a long-snapper. Guess it's due to not wanting to take practice time away from the 2nd string center.

Every team has a designated long snapper... Every college team, even most in DIII, have a dedicated long snapper. The speed and accuracy could win or lose you 2-4 games a year...

Can Veach really pull off a trade for a quality WR at this point? Makes you wonder about Julio Jones now. He only played 9 games last year and still got 770 yards.
Nah, as I predicted since before the draft, if this new and improved offensive line is close to what we think it will be, Mahomes will have time to find his 3rd read and he will make JAGs look special, as did other future HOF QB's...

Ideally a backup Center/Guard would double as your Long Snapper so he's not seeing game action and getting sweaty/injured/fatigued.

That said, you can't pussy foot around with a risky Long Snapper. If he's nails, you keep him and treat it like your home insurance bill.

Plus, there's a decent chance your center will miss at least a little time due to injury. You don't to be missing your center and your long snapper.

I don't think you want your 315 lbs C running down the field covering punts.

The rest of the backup linemen do.

Correct. A bad snap on a punt or field goal is almost always going to either cost your team points or give points to the other team.

It’s not worth it to carry a 7th WR.

Also, why risk the injury to that player and have to find someone else to snap? That timing is so precise.

There's no OL on the punt coverage team, I do not believe.

It's mostly LBs, DEs, and TEs along the interior.

We're both wrong, he was a 5th :-)

I need to lay off the peyote.

But yes, i would not be surprised at all if he sprains a toe before final cuts.
