Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

He's bad.

We can find someone who will do better than this. Every speed rusher is barely slowed down. He's like a perverse version of Maverick from Top Gun. I'm gonna hit the brakes and they'll fly right by.

Paying him would be an epic mistake. Hope to God they figure something else out.

Year 1 in KC it took a few weeks to acclimate to the difference in systems and by midseason was kicking ass.

During contract negotiations, Brett Veaches reservations about a top of market deal for Orlando was his weight and how that weight directly affects his potential in the offense to be compensated like that. So, Orlando took it to heart and lost a TON of weight and then had to modify his whole technique to be effective at the lower weight.

He struggled to find his effectiveness in the first month by battling an injury while changing his whole approach to the game. But he has a good work ethic snd has transformed himself.

Look at him play the last month and then look at him play last year. It’s a completely different person/player.

This version is good enough to give any pass rushers a good fight.

Last year, his tool box was far more limited.

He's average deal with it

Maybe we can find someone, the problem is you're relying on the same dumbass who traded for Brown to find that someone.

Sucks but we're stuck with his fat ass this year. Hopefully, there's a better option in the off-season. Right tackle on the other hand they may have some options they could at least try.

He messed up pretty bad on some important plays today, the most obvious one being that 3rd down before Butker's field goal attempt at the end. That 3rd down was an enormous play and Orlando put Mahomes in a pretty tough spot.

people can say we'll be fucked without average play at left tackle, but the money we might waste on him will go to improving other positions, probably two or three

meanwhile we can likely find average tackle play in FA or the draft

chiefs gonna chief tho

KC traded the equivalent of a second round for Brown, who was plan B, after their first option resigned with SF.

Hardly a disaster given the situation.

the sad thing is i think geron can be better on pass downs right away, but due to NFL politics orlando will see every snap at LT this year
