He's lost the plot. The moment he went into last season without a genuine coaching staff - just a pile of cronies he stuck where he had to to fill out a roster - he needed to be put on notice.
That franchise needs a genuine GM and the owner needs to put his hand on the steering wheel in a big way. BB is piloting that thing into a mountain.
I agree that suddenly there is reason to be concerned but if ever there was a guy to let do whatever he wants, its Belichik.
Many times the league, fans and other clubs have questioned this man, only to see the big picture later on. [Reply]

Seriously, it's why I hate the whole "The Patriots traded Seymour and this guy and they did that". Yeah, they did. It worked because of the QB. That's it. They rolled the point and didn't crap out so many times...."Yeah yeah it's skill at that point".
Bullshit. They fell ass over tea kettle into the GOAT, inserted him into a roster built by someone else and got lucky.
BB was also a brilliant defensive mind. And let's also not act like BB didn't build the roster that Brady had the last decade plus in NE.
But he's gone up his own ass at this point.
The incestuous nature of his staff hirings has really made it apparent that he's just not listening to outside voices anymore and that's a problem. [Reply]

Belichick hasn't drafted well for 15 years.
If nothing else, there needs to be a tighter grip on player personnel. And giving Belichick a free hand last season ended up with a DC trying to run an offense.
'Big Picture' there is nothing positive to say about any of that. It's just failure - as confirmed by the fact that they fired Patricia; though of course they just went and hired another crony to replace him. [Reply]

He’s the most overrated coach ever
Having a QB that could cover for his offensive deficiencies made a guy with a great eye for defense and game management a classic 'right guy, right place, right time' scenario.
BB and Brady were perfect complements. Brady/Reid wouldn't have had the same level of success, IMO. [Reply]
When you have outsmarted the league for a couple decades, I could see how you could outsmart yourself. That is definitely what he has done.
It may just be time to move on before you destroy your own legacy, yikes.
If he wants to continue coaching, I am sure there would be teams lining up to sign him. I cant imagine he wants to hang it up after 4 losing seasons. [Reply]
