Nzoner's Game Room>2023 Free Agency

Figured we could get one of these going as well.

Who's some guys we like, would like to see in KC?

This isn't complicated.

I agree.

It's entirely possible this is their plan. With the league seemingly devaluing WRs in free agency and the talk that this is a weak WR draft class, they could be gearing up to get a first round WR for the first time in Pat's career.

Think about it, a 1st round talent on a 5 year rookie deal to build chemistry with Mahomes is a huge deal. Eventually, they're going to have to pull the trigger on that. I'm thinking more and more that it's going to be this year.

Then you have Skyy, Toney and the rookie for at least the next 3 years to gel together and hopefully peak when Trav is finally ready to hang it up or starts slipping a bit. That's how you need to build this core for the future.

If anyone thinks Addison isn't worth 31, they're just being ridiculous with what they expect.

They’re always drafting for YAC. Even last year Skyy had a respectable 4.41 speed with an elite 10 yard split while having huge hands and 5’10 195 with big legs.

JSN and Hyatt are the guys for me in rd 1. I also wouldn’t hate Flowers if they really thought that highly of him, but his skinny frame while playing makes me a bit nervous as well as his height. I don’t see an enormous disparity between Hyatt and Mims who will be available in rd 2. Don’t see a huge disparity between Johnston and Mingo either.

We can talk about value all we want, but a blue chipper is a blue chipper. Just last year we went into that draft thinking they might not take a Corner in the first rd bc they’ve had so much success getting them later on.
They obviously saw McDuffie as an elite prospect and chose to get him.

I think that situation arises in this draft on the DL and OT. There’s guys you move up for if they’re in range like you did McDuffie based on talent and opportunity cost.

Darnell Wright seems like that guy IMO. If he falls to 26 you call Dallas and give them a 4th and 6th to get him. Just too much value.
If Will McDonald is there, I think you have to think you get him. He’s slightly undersized but is tall enough to add weight. Jalin Hyatt is the only WR I can see them doing a small move up for.

In regards to “waiting for a DL in rd 2”. Yeah that’s possible. They’ve scouted a lot of DL. But I think we’re attacking that position with multiple draft picks. The value is so good in rd 3 and 4 this year.
Addison is, at worst, WR2 in this draft. I'd argue with you about 'blue chip' distinction you'd make and how it wouldn't apply to him but it's immaterial - he's not lasting to 31.

I don't disagree on Wright - he's almost a perfect fit. Not sexy but he'd plug and play at RT and be damn good, IMO. Would I move up? Eh, probably. At that cost, I think so. If for no other reason than it would make Buffalo sad, IMO.

Will McDonald? I don't think he qualifies as 'must take' at all and there are any number of guys at DE, WR or OT that I'd probably take ahead of him. He's as flawed as any of the WR prospects you're dismissing. Slightly undersized is hand-waiving a pretty significant problem. I think he's VERY undersized for a starting DE in a 4-3. In fact I don't think he can do it at all. He's a 3-4 player to me, IMO, or maybe a situational rusher.

That has value and the board MAY turn out to say that he's the best guy. But I doubt it.

Having guys you like or prefer is one thing. But declaratory statements like "By far" and "without question" simply don't apply to the 31st spot in a draft that isn't very top heavy but goes fairly long.

There will be myriad of directions we could go with that pick and just about all of them are going to be defensible. And yes, WR could very easily be among them.

Darnell Wrights comparison from RAS is Jason Peters.

Also what does that have to do with Bolton? Spags doesn’t always draft athletes at that position.
Someday I'm gonna figure out how Nick Bolton and his 4.6 40 at 240 lbs w/ a 2.6 second 20 yard split is a 'slow linebacker'.

The KCSN guys got it in their head that he's some lumbering plodder when we drafted him and it stuck. Bolton is a damn good athlete for a Mike backer - why are we pretending like every LBer is supposed to be a Will and if you aren't you're some oaf?

It comes from the same group of people that only want WRs who run 4.3s.

RAS is just a graph of testing numbers.

Now if you feel testing is retarded well that's a different discussion

Think Oregon State's massive CBs + college rules (can p much wrestle WRs as long as you top them form catch/off tech) presented a very difficult challenge for him.

That said, looked a lot more like an inditement on Caleb/the offense than him watching it: pic.twitter.com/NGpkhll3zb

This is considered a bad game for Addison even though he's winning his routes and not getting the ball.

It's an algorithm based on testing numbers. Revised Athletic Score.

The score is predictive of nothing in particular.

The problem with any media is eventually you buy your own hype. The bigger you get the more the echo chamber confirms what you believe. Rgr is much less consumable that kcsn at this point imo though.
