I believe there was a mask requirement, and no one was infected except another stylist. Others can correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW I am still wearing a mask when I go out in public but as each day goes by fewer and fewer people are from what I notice.
I still wear a mask when outside, also. I would say that only 30% of the people I see out these days are wearing masks. Go to Home Depot and it's probably closer to 10%

I thought they said like 80 people got infected? Or maybe just exposed, I don't remember.

That's good. It would be nice if we could run the same test though in parallel to see how much the masks did or did not help. I know we can't but it would be nice if some how they could really nail it down.

That's good. Again I wish we could some how do a parallel test without hurting anyone of course. I mean wouldn't you absolutely shit if the results ended up being the same?

Both worked while sick, wore masks the entire time and had no transmission.

Seems like a good data poitn.

It seems that way yes and we have to lean on that because we have nothing to compare it too. I mean what if they were sick but not necessarily shedding or whatever they call it? I know it's impossible to know but that would be what we would really want to know? If you could somehow accurately simulate the same exact situation but without masks.

Yeah, masks work. Why wouldn't it?

I don't think that it's a 100% conclusion that the masks made the difference (since there's a lot of variability in how contagious people are), but it certainly is a point to suggest that masks might help. Of course, there's tons of evidence pointing that direction these days if you look for it.

Do they? I am not saying they don't but what I said was it would be cool if we had the same exact situation without masks to see if masks did really work and if so to what degree???

Then one would have to analyze what kind of masks they wore. Home made cotton? N95s? Painters masks? Surgical lookalikes made in China?

Arizona

Cases: The 7-day avg has hit a new high. Cases shot up significantly from yesterday, 2nd highest number of cases reported ever.

Testing: PCR testing increased by about 1,200 tests from yesterday.

Spread: Overall PCR positive percentage ticked up again to 7.7% (up from a 6.6% low) and the average for this week is currently 14% (up from 12% last week). ⚠️ That's roughly 1 in 7 testing positive for COVID, up from 1 in 20 a month ago.

Hospital Utilization: ICU beds usage went up 76% to 79%. Inpatient bed occupancy shot up 78% to 83%. Hospitalizations for positive or suspected COVID-19 patients ticked up by 1%. Intubations increased by about 25% since yesterday. Ventilators in use shot up from 641 to 979, largest spike to date (could be weird data since number of vents available only went down by 40).
