2023 – A new beginning for the Royals. Matt Quatraro era begins. A year to see which of our young players will make up the core going forward. Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

Do you know how hard it is to be this bad? Like teams that tanked on purpose weren't this bad. [Reply]

I've got no problem with 5/6 of that list.
Keep Bobby Witt Jr. Trade the rest.
Considering the White Sox just got a top 100 prospect and a nice additional prospect for 1/2 season of Lucas Guilito and 1/2 season of Reynaldo Lopez, I'd think KC can get a better return if pairing Singer and one of Barlow or Carlos Hernandez. [Reply]

The Royals obsession with demanding guys who are major league ready will tank returns, always does. [Reply]

TBF, he did suck at D last year, but Matheny's teams were usually pretty shitty, so anyone that wasn't a complete idiot (BWillie) wanted to give him another year to see if he improved and boy did he ever. [Reply]

Hes certainly been better but put him up there with Wander Franco is a stetch. 0.3 defensive war which is much better than what he was last year. Its just that Garcia projects to be quite a bit better than Bobby there but Im not gonna say its completely dumb to leave Bobby there with the hopes he will continue to get better defensively. Its just that Bobby should project better as a 3B and imo ESPECIALLY a CF.

Among all defenders that have played at least 700 innings BWJ is 3rd on Fangraphs DEF stat.
1. Franco - 14.3
2. Tovar - 12.0
3. Witt Jr - 11.2
They are never going to move him off of SS and it'd be stupid as hell if they did. He wouldn't have to improve at defense at all and he's still playing the position at a very high level.
You can admit that you were really wrong, because you sure as shit like to gloat when you get something right. [Reply]

Some of its political pressure with Clay County plan but I think its also might be an actually a good plan as well knowing the people behind it.
Of course all the politicos wanted down by 18th and Vine but we know they weren't touching that area with a thousand foot pole. [Reply]
"The entire development would cost an estimated $2 billion, with the Royals ownership group committing more than $1 billion. The county sales tax extension would yield $300- to $350 million for the ballpark project."
So does that mean money from naming rights will cover the rest? Also will the stadium be considered a $2 bil stadium? If so that puts it at the most expensive MLB stadium and 2nd most expensive professional sports stadium only behind SoFi, which somehow cost $5.5 bil. That stadium cost more to build than 2nd ($1.9 bil), 3rd ($1.7 bil), and 4th ($1.5 bil) combined ($5.1 bil). Something isn't right with that. [Reply]
