The problem is a general roster construction one overall. Not enough shooting and not enough depth.
If you started 4 guards around Hunter, Hunter would not be a problem. Have KJ come off the bench to spell Hunter. The end.
Unfortunately we probably don't have the shooting firepower to even do it. [Reply]

We don’t have enough players or shooting to do anything to solve the greater macro issue here. KJ has to play and he has to play big minutes on this team for them to be successful because they literally only have like 5 good D1 players at all. [Reply]

I wouldn’t say that. There have been plenty of seasons over the past decade we didn’t have a starting lineup anywhere near this good (probably top 3 in NCAA with UConn/Houston, two teams who they also outplayed when they faced off).
We will hoping that 5 players is enough to get through the tournament. It certainly hasn’t been enough to get through this gruelling conference season, but that’s a completely different thing. [Reply]

We will probably finish the season with 9 losses. That will only be the 5th time that has happened under Self. So I would put them in the bottom 5.
And don't hold your breath for a tournament run. [Reply]

We are gonna end up with 11 losses if you count Houston, the likely B12 tournament loss and the likely NCAA tournament loss.
Don’t care one bit about the number of regular season losses though for this team (they’ve been playing with 5 guys all season and 4 guys for most of the past month). Has very little to do with what their fate will be in the tournament. [Reply]

Where would you rank this team, at this point of the season, against Self's other KU squads.

This should be a 2-word answer/response.
Bottom tier as I’ve said all season. But this team’s peak level with their starters is much higher than that and that’s all that matters in 2 weeks. The rest doesn’t matter at all. [Reply]

I don’t know, perhaps you should make a list? They’d probably be at least in the bottom third or quarter. Still doesn’t mean regular season losses matter much at all, particularly for this group. [Reply]
