2023 – A new beginning for the Royals. Matt Quatraro era begins. A year to see which of our young players will make up the core going forward. Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

3rd-rder Hiro Wyatt signs w/@Royals for $1,497,500 (pick 75 value = $960k). Connecticut HS RHP, fastball to 97 mph, slider might be an even better pitch, some Josiah Gray comps. Southern California recruit. @MLBDraftpic.twitter.com/mZlp4m5WdW

Nick Pratto is a bit baffling. I expected a little more power out of the guy and a little less contact. When I watch him play 1B he seems solid but def war seems to say otherwise. Maybe hes scared to whiff to much cuz he doesn't want to get sent down. [Reply]

it seems like sometimes he goes for grounders too far to his right and then is out of position
He has made some plays the last couple of days though...very aggressive in the field
He is just holding it down for Vinnie, anyways [Reply]

They'll just move him to outfield or some other dumb shit when Vinnie's ready next season. [Reply]
I'm just completely skeptical. Not just because Salvy has control over being traded but all we've heard for years is how Salvy is overrated, pitch framing, doesn't walk, etc. and he has a massive contract on top of it.
The Royals are going to value him more over literally every other team. This almost 100% feels like a trade where you'd get some decent prospects but probably midrange guys, maybe a top 100 player if you're very lucky, and now you've traded your best player for lottery tickets and the fans are more angry than ever. No good player really has any value for a team that cant possibly compete for years. Anyone of any value that isnt young should be traded.
I also always wondered why bad teams even have closers. They literally have no value. Actually they have negative value because you don't WANT to win the close games. [Reply]
