For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

The hurt toe was just a cover to allow him to drop the consecutive games streak for a reason other than not being vaccinated. What a bitch.

I mean, can you blame him?

But to your point, it absolutely does speak to the leadership and the weak culture in the Royals clubhouse. Not because he chose not to get vaccinated, but because he didn’t want to bother with it because he is on a losing team. And don’t think for a second that Matheny doesn’t promulgate this culture because he absolutely does. It’s no wonder the Royals are a losing team, huh.

I’d have a hell of a lot more respect for Whit if he had come out and said I’m not getting vaccinated, period, regardless of which team I’m playing for playoffs or not. And least he would be standing up for what he believes then.

I think we can blame him. He's a leader of the team and he has no excuse. Would the team magically be in the World Series if he suddenly became a rah rah guy? No way because the pitching is terrible. A lot of this isn't his fault. But you can't have your leader saying things like that and leaving the team behind for a series because he doesn't care. That is a major organizational failure. I don't believe Salvy (or Mahomes) would ever do that.

They have some big time star power in the HR Derby this year.

Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez accepted an invitation to the Home Run Derby and is the seventh confirmed member of the field, sources tell ESPN. He joins Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Ronald Acuña Jr., Albert Pujols, Kyle Schwarber and Julio Rodríguez. One spot left.

It is a shitty team, regardless of his leadership or not, but I absolutely believe it comes from the top down starting with Moore and filtering down to Matheny, so I meant can you blame Whit when the leadership above him who is in charge of the Royals are promulgating this culture in the clubhouse and organization? I don’t.

Is it shitty of him to say from a personal standpoint? Absolutely. As I stated, I’d have a hell of a lot more respect for him if he just stood firm on his beliefs rather than giving this quasi half hearted ‘well I might get it if I was on a playoff team’ response.

That’s weak sauce.

So who are replacing these 10? Do 3A players lose an option if called up?

Once he’s traded to a contender he’s changing his nickname to Two Shot Whit.

This organization is always embarrassing. Always

At this point, who the fuck cares if these guys are or are not vaccinated. It's not like everyone there is vaccinated or everyone here is vaccinated. Plus no one is dying from the shit.

Who said he was a leader? He's not. Anyone that can't see that...well...that's on them. I could care less if he's the player rep. He "uhhed" and muttered and stumbled his way through about every interview he did when the lockout was happening. He sounded like a guy pretending to be a leader (which he is...a pretend leader). I've heard this type of guy in countless industries. He's plya-acting. His statement in the above fits who he is. And it's consistent with who he has been. Players shouldn't have made him the player rep. That's on them. But if you think he's obligated to take a jab because of yadda, yadda...that's on you for thinking more highly of Whit than you ought. He's a ROLE PLAYER on a championship team...even at his peak. That's what last place teams get. Role players that are their leaders.

Actually the real leader of the Royals is Salvy.

It’s against the law for this organization to be in the news for any reason that isn’t fucking embarrassing.
