Media Center>Soprano's Season 6 discussion.........
Kylo Ren 02:35 PM 02-02-2006
My wife and I are excited about the upcoming season of Sopranos. We've been waiting for about 2 years for this next season. This show is addictive.

Originally, I missed the first few episodes of season one. I've never seen them. But HBO has been showing all of the Sopranos episodes in order lately. I started watching every episode, starting with season one, episode one about a month and a half ago. It's been great. I watch it every weekday night at 7pm. I'm picking up allot of stuff that I missed the first time around. Also, seeing the entire series from the beginning, in order, episode after episode is really making things more clear. There were some things that I was foggy about. There's such a long offseason between seasons that you can forget important details sometimes. The timing will be just right. I should finish the final episode just prior to March when the new season starts. I can't wait.

After reading another Soprano's thread, the topic of SPOILERS came up. So I thought there should be some RULES about spoilers for this thread.

I would say that one should read and post at your own risk. We will bump this thread to the top after each episode and have a discussion of that episode. I don't know how you can have a discussion without revealing spoilers. I don't even know why they'd be considered spoilers if the episode has already aired and most of America has seen it. So, if you want to post a "spoiler warning" in your post, that's fine. But if you don't, no one should complain. If you haven't see the current episode, you should not read this thread until you have.

With that said, if you have some inside information about an upcoming episode that would be a spoiler, you SHOULD NOT post that on this thread. I can't imagine that happening, because the Soprano's producers gaurd their secrets like Fort Knox. But, if you know something about an upcoming episode, keep it to yourself until after the episode airs. This is really common sense stuff, but I thought it should be spelled out just to keep arguments to a minimum.

At one point, I literally had to cover my eyes.

The Vito scenes have the same effect as the Chief's defence, I can't watch either.

My wife and I did the same thing. I never thought I'd say it, but this season has been a dissappointment. I hope it ends in a spectacular fashion. They've got allot of loose ends to tie up in just two episodes.

I thought it was genius and I'll tell you why. Chase pushes you right to the edge of cringe, right where you're reaching for the remote, then he jump cuts to hilarious symbolic imagery to burst the bubble. The first scene, he cuts from Morgay Spurlock about to take Vito from behind to Bobby running his model train into a tunnel. The second scene, he cuts from the nuzzling to Vito using a handsaw.

Maybe so, but it was still gross. :-)

There is supposed to be another season, but it's only supposed to be 6 episodes and is being called a BONUS season. I don't know what that is supposed to mean. It'll be a surprise, as usual.

I want to thank the writers or was it HBO, that kept the 'six feet under' gay fest alive in the Sopranos. Ugh...can we move on already?

Aside from the Vito outing, this show is stuck in the mud. There are no other story lines moving.

I think what their doing is moronic and I'll tell you why. Although I have never been a big Soprano's guy I know a lot of people that own every episode. The most important thing with any show is knowing your market. The great majority of people that watch this one are repulsed by this imagery and the directon the show is going. The expression on their face while they show this shit is that of utter disbelief. Like I said earlier in this thread, is there nothing that is sacred anymore? From gay cowboys to gangsters now this has been the year the butt pirates have invaded every area where there are people who really don't like their lifestyle. If the gays think that pushing into these areas is going to make their lifestyle more acceptable they are totally wrong. It's making many people who were previously indifferent down right angry. When people turn on the Soprano's because they want to see some guy get whacked they are not thinking about gay porn. I know many of the big fans of this show would like to see a return of the edgy nature that made it great but I think they just sank the ship with this shit. It also shows me that my decision about a year ago to try and watch less and less TV was a good one.

During the Vito butt-plow scenes I turn my head and ask my wife to tell me when it is safe to look.
Last night I looked when she said it was safe only to get an eyeful of Laurel and Hardy playing squat tag in the cucumber patch while my wife laughed her little ass off.
Score one for the women.

IMHO this has been an enjoyable season. The writing has come more to the front at the cost of bang-bang action having to take a back seat (Vito pun intended). There are an awful lot of story lines to wrap up. I like how Johnny Sack is now a broken man, can't stand hogpig Janice, think Bobby needs to get tough, want Chrissy back on the smack. want Sylvio & Paulie and the crew to bust more balls , AJ needs to grow a pair, and am a BIG fan of Meadow going back to her anorexic ways. Keep on puking girl cuz it is working!

I'll bet a buck or two that starting with the next epsiode the story lines will begin to culminate in a lot of action.

They did it with Six Feet Under also.. I'm just hoping Deadwood isn't next. My wife stopped watching the Sopranos when the vito story line kicked in.
