They could have issued him a summons and made him leave to appear in court later.

But arrest him? Think it sounds a little heavy handed.

Christ, in San Fran you can steal $800 and get a summons.
Well...

Emaw posted earlier that LEO's in KS can get arrested themselves if they fail to respond "properly" to a potential DV situation. So yeah, seems a bit harsh.

I guess it's no different than people dialing 911 at the drive in when their order is wrong.

Seems like arrest first and investigate later.
It absolutely is.

I'm not saying this is, or will be, the case with Willie Gay but the person I know was actually charged with some kind of petty vandalism by the cops and then the DA added the DV charge later.

Willie is 100% at fault for being an asshole to destroy things. But call the cops over broken items?

I have another acquaintance who was convicted of public intox with an added public urination charge. He's on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

I never condone hitting a women unless in self defense if they have a weapon.

The man was flipping out on TV after a Chiefs touchdown. You don't find it possible that his behavior might have been pretty erratic and scary to the mom while he was breaking shit in the house? If she felt the need to call the cops to protect her son, she shouldn't be blamed for that.

If someone broke down your door to give you a sales pitch would you call the cops? When someone is breaking things you’re justified to be a little more worried for your own safety. Especially if the person breaking stuff is an NFL linebacker.

Maybe, but your speculation is leaning on the side of victim blaming.

Because I'm fairly certain that shit escalates most of the time.
