So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]
Should the way forward be to offer OBJ the opportunity to move back to RT for elite right tackle money in a take it or leave it fashion? Then the debate becomes about how to fill the LT spot. [Reply]

Not happening. OBJ would rather wash out of the league than admit he isn't a LT and move to RT. [Reply]

Pay him bad LT money and then make him play RT where he will be elite. [Reply]

That would be my approach. He's never going to be good enough to play LT in this offense. No matter if he reduces his asking price IMO. [Reply]
#Chiefs leave OBJ 1v1 w Von Miller, who pressures around edge and forces Mahomes to step up into Wylie losing on a TEX stunt -- but 15 does Mahomes things
The problem: it flushes 15 left, when the Sail concept is being run to the right. Pressure forces him into no man's land pic.twitter.com/T6UrqpecRM
OBJ is losing a million dollars a week in negotiations after the season. It's not just Chiefs evaluating him each team is looking at him as a potential FA but he isn't going garnish top tier LT money. Hell the rate he is playing he may have to take a backup job because he is a liability in the passing game. [Reply]

But yeah if you have any speed, you don't need any moves to beat our tackles.
What’s ironic is our tackles would probably do really well against our pass rush. KC has no speed at DE so Brown would probably hold up extremely well. If only Spags would see the success you can have from speed rushers and actually try to use one. [Reply]

Did I miss the spectacular speed rushers that are languishing on the bench or something? [Reply]

I don't think OBJ does a bad job on that play. Mahomes is in the gun and then drops back another 5-6 yards. Typically if an OT pushes their defender 9-10 yards beyond the LOS the QB has a nice pocket. It's on Wylie for doing a poor job on the stunt and allowing the inside pressure. [Reply]
