This is the first game where by the end of it I was thinking that these refs are just sucking the fun out of watching NFL football. It was not just the calls against us late, it was the horrible calls on our final scoring drive. I am not buying into a conspiracy but damn, get the calls right on a consistent basis and allow the players to play the game! :-)

tbf the officials were consistent. Consistently bad, but that crew has been doing that all year. Gotta know where the strike zone is gonna be when the stripes come to town.

As for Sutton, yes, fire him.

Bringing in talent is 1,000,000 more important. This "coach up the guys we have" stuff is not wise. Get rid of most of them and bring in new players in the back end of the defense.

Slow down now, champ. Scandrick is light years better than Bartee.

Now as for Parker, that goddamn guy makes Kendrick Lewis look like Ronnie Lott. I would absolutely accept nominations for his season being the worst season by a safety ever.

Which is disappointing because he had a couple of good years here. But I'm pretty much only going to remember this final year of him being slow on every rotation and his leisurely jaunts directly into blockers.

As bad as Parker has been, and he has been abysmal, I'd say Eric Murray is even worse. He literally has no redeeming qualities as an NFL safety. None whatsoever.

As bad as BURNTee was, I don’t remember him single handily losing a game like Scandrick did on the final two plays vs. the Chargers.

And both are constantly given run by Sutton....

Agreed. And that is maybe the most frustrating part about watching this defense. It's as if I'm watching the same damn movie over and over with an expectation of a different ending. These safeties have been garbage. There's no other way to put it. I don't know what Lucas did to deserve getting benched, but putting Murray and Parker out there and watching them continually get flogged is the definition of insanity by Sutton. I'd even give them a pass if they could tackle but got burnt on occasion, but they can't even do that. It's honestly amazing how exquisitely pathetic they are.

Murray gives more fucks. And he runs faster.

I mean that doesn't necessarily make him better, but it doesn't hurt. And in terms of the raw agony of watching them play, at least Murray appears to care when he's taking himself out of a play or failing to make a tackle.

Parker, OTOH, just kinda shrugs and moves on to the next snap. Then he sleepwalks through it. He doesn't necessarily fail most of the time because he never actually tried to make the play to begin with. I'm not kidding, I cannot recall a player more infuriating to watch play than Ron Parker this season. The guy full on doesn't give a shit and he knows he's playing anyway. He just stands there on run downs and waits for blocks to get to him. He openly and obviously guesses hoping for an interception that will get him interviewed but constantly guesses wrong.

Murray, god bless him, is trying to do the right thing. He's kind of a dim labrador at this point - he wants to do well but the hell if he knows how. Parker, OTOH, is a cat. He's an aloof slacker who doesn't really care if you like what he's doing or not. He knows you're gonna feed him and scoop up his shit either way.

Id say Sorensen is even worse because hes getting paid 6 million to be just as bad as Parker and Murray. Another terrible contract.

My feeling is, if veterans are struggling to know their assignments, then a guy like Murray will be tentative. I wouldn't mind seeing how he does with berry and especially new coaching.

The one thing that popped out at me on the play where berry put everyone in their place... You could see the DBs weren't ready for the snap. They were hesitant. Of all positions, you want your DBs swaggering out there. Not looking around the field figuring out where they need to be and go.

@San Fran, 2002 immediately springs to mind.

Me and Wolfy nicknamed Bartee "24 Highway" that day.

Lucas and Murray should be the only safeties besides Berry to even see the field except in the dime packages.

Sutton has always relied on aggressive defensive back play, and these days, the NFL don't play that shit.
