Because defenses are being built smaller and quicker to defend the fast, explosive teams. Those smaller defenders are making business decisions after being punished by the bigger backs. And they had some stats to back up the discussion.

Bears signed DE Al-Quadin Muhammad, formerly of the Colts, to a two-year, $10 million contract.

Muhammad, 27 later this month, heads to Chicago to reunite with ex-DC and new coach Matt Eberflus. The former sixth-round pick started all 17 games for the Colts last season, playing a career-high 73% of the snaps, and registered a career-best six sacks. Muhammad will help replace Khalil Mack off the edge for the Bears.
