Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

He's our guy this year. Von Miller is happy.
Oh they will? Chiefs dumped him. Colts didn't want to re-sign him after 1 year. He wants to play and supposedly declined 9 offers. Safe to say those offers were nothing but depth fodder.

I think he was prepared to take this year to get fully healed and I would bet you're going to see him somewhere next season if not this year where someone has injury problems.
His MIL works for a buddy of mine.

He's done.

Well that might be a really good thing, then, huh?

Fisher was, I feel, pretty underrated.

I understand he's 32, and coming off an torn achilles, and we've seen that it takes over a year to be 100% after that, but OT is a position that we've seen guys play until almost 40. If he wants to, Fisher might be well served by saving a year of wear and tear.

I'm not saying this should be plan A or anything, but I would be staying in touch with his agent if was Veach.

No?

It's not good for him and why the fuck would anyone want him back on the Chiefs? He was overall worse than OBJ. Stop trying to prop him up as some kind of stud LT.

that seems odd, but if so, perhaps his back issues are part of it. Seems he's leaving tens of millions on the table, over a few more years.

He's a 32 year old LT that relied on athleticism and blew an achilles.

He wanted to play, make his money and get out healthy. He did that and last she said, he was content to go live on his ranch in South Dakota or wherever.

This was a while back so maybe he decided to come back but it doesn't appear so.

No, healthy Fisher was not worse than OBJ.

Healthy Fisher was an above average LT. And at relatively good cap value. Which is HUGE in this discussion.

Now, if you want to argue that healthy Fisher no longer exists, you may well be right. I have no idea.

But I'm not propping Fisher up as some stud LT. It's the same argument that OBJ must be upgraded or just pay him; that's a position that ignores all nuance. The big thing is that we cannot OVERPAY for a mediocre LT. We can survive with a middle of the road LT as long as we're not tying up top tier money.

I'm not even saying bringing Fisher back should be the plan; I'm just reacting to discussions above in this thread.

Personally, I'd be looking at Yosh Nijman from Green Bay, who's been filling in admirably for Bahktiari. GB can't cut Bahktiari (nor would they want to if he's healthy), nor could they afford to pay Nijman even an average starting LT salary. He's a RFA in '23, so I'd totally pay that kid an average LT salary to man that spot for us.

You seem to be unable to grasp anything other than black/white.

I don't want him back, but he was clearly a better pass blocker than OBJ

Sure. But I'm talking overall here. Not just a fraction of the picture. People bitching about Maxx Crosby beating OBJ in the pass rush acting like Bosa didn't make Fisher look like a bitch in the SB.

This guy has regressed horribly or he just doesn't give a fuck.

Either way he deserves a basic pay day.

Not at all.

If you wanted to go back to the threads where people bitched about Fisher, you'll see that I was not one of them, usually defending him.

People wanted to see Willie Roaf, and I often said that wasn't fair.

If you want to go back to where people were saying we should try to get OBJ when he said he wanted out of Baltimore, you'll see that I said over and over that he's not a good fit for this offense.

I think that's proven to be true, wouldn't you? He's not a great fit for an Andy Reid offense. I think that's pretty obvious.

He's just not. He struggles with speed rushers.

Fisher, on the other hand, handled speed pretty well, but was susceptible to the power rushers.

In THIS offense, that's better, in my opinion. You can disagree, but it's an entirely defensible position.

either way, it's 2023 we're talking about, and I don't think paying OBJ top of the market money is a prudent move. That, I think we could agree on.

Did you actually watch the game?

Jones was beating OBJ.

Crosby was beating Wylie.

Mahomes rolling right was due to OBJ.

When Wylie got beat too, he had nowhere to go, hence Crosby's two sacks.

I didn't see too much flipping of sides from Vegas. They pretty much lined up in the same way.

Who gives a shit? Jones is pretty good in his own right.

Stop acting like Eric Fisher was ever a fucking stud. He was made to look like a bitch by good pass rushers PLENNNNNNNNNNNNNTY.

Are you just arguing to argue? Because your reading comprehension skills are pretty bad otherwise.
