Do you remember when the NBA rescinded the Chris Paul to the Lakers trade? It's a wonder the NFL didn't step in here and come down hard on the Seahawks for butt ****ing the donx the way they did. I don't think anyone really believes that Paton is THAT stupid, but who knows.

It would have to take a dumb one to do that, at this point. I could see 5 for 250M with 100M guaranteed and a 50M signing bonus but i'd still be really worried about that length of contract.
Oh, no part of me would give him anything near the Watson deal (and don’t get me started on that one). I think he can be good used in certain systems but it’s absolutely not for everyone.

The Kyler Murray contract with 160mm guaranteed is the starting point though, so I imagine he’ll get 180-200mm guaranteed on a 5/250 deal when the dust settles.

The Murry deal was idiotic.

Our beloved chiefs are working on a small scale version with the tyreek trade. But it sure helps when Seattle knows better than anyone that Russ was a system qb :-):-)

And Russel Wilson got 160mm guaranteed.

You can say it's idiotic but the market is the market.

Market for what? QBs that aren't going to win ANYTHING in the future? Why would ANY team be dumb enough to give these guys huge deals?

Guys like Mahomes are the outlier. They aren’t out there and easy to find. 5 years of Pat have warped some of your guys minds when it comes to actual QB play.

You would have been on board with trading for Wilson and extending him at that cost? Watson? Murray?

Outside of Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Hurts, and maybe Herbert, I'm not paying anywhere NEAR that much to keep one of these also-rans.

In fairness Cleveland was 100% pigeon holed.

Really deep thoughts on your part.

I bet with Herbert and Burrow also on the verge of extensions this situation is likely to turn around quickly.

Teams will never stop “overpaying” quarterbacks, and in reality if you don’t have a legit HOF level playing quality guy at QB, you have no chance to win it all anymore. None.

You aren’t beating Mahomes/Andy/Veach unless you have that guy at QB and even then the odds are stacked against you.

It’s fun to be on this side of a whats looking like a dynasty.

And you know they are going to want to reset the QB market by going off -Mahomes deal plus percentage of cap increase since then- as the starting point of negotiations from the players agents side.

They won’t get that much, but I won’t be shocked if Burrows deal is something like 5/280 with 175 fully guaranteed.
