All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.
For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

I work a fuckton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.
So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

Great camera work and production throughout but that last episode was much too emo than what I go for entertainment, no matter how well done
Yeah, felt like bait and switch. Like I was watching a buddy cop show with Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg and it comes back from break and the last 1/3rd turns into Schindlers list or something.
Spoiler!
The last episode was well done. It was a bit heartbreaking.
Deep into it I was like, I'm not here for this I'll fast forward a bit to the end to get ready for the next episode. Didn't realize the entire show was going to just be 4 episodes. Not sure why they needed some of the storylines like the lead detective and the son. I guess the whole arc was just him finally going to eat with the kid once.. not much

I have a little more than a casual knowledge although I will admit it piqued my curiosity and I did quite a bit of reading because of it.
There were obvious liberties taken with events and timelines but none of them undermined the authenticity of the show. It was very well done.
I'm just sad that, because I have more than just a casual interest, that I know how the story really ends. Aethelstan united England, according to the movie, in IIRC 927 AD. It lasted less than 150 years. [Reply]

I'm right there with you, haven't found anything that bingeworthy on Netflix since finishing it... its not quite GoT, but it gets pretty damn close IMO
I'm sure you're getting "because you watched" recommendations for a short lived series called Barbarians... give it a shot and then give up after two episodes like I did, because its a D list version with AWFUL sophomoric writing [Reply]

I wanted to watch Vikings but it's behind a paywall on Netflix and I don't have a high enough tier. [Reply]

By the way, if you haven't seen Reign, I highly recommend it. [Reply]
