Sources: The #Seahawks and #Chiefs are deep in talks on a trade to send star Frank Clark to KC. The compensation would include a 1st rounder, a 2020 2nd rounder and a swap of mid-rounders. To complete it, the franchise tagged player and Chiefs must hammer out a deal.

I have yet to see Veach pull off a trade of that caliber.
Veach is the one who found Mahomes and pushed him on everyone. He is literally the MAIN reason we have him.
I have no idea how you could have seen Veach pull of a trade of that caliber at this point considering a trade of that caliber was basically like a once every 30 year kind of deal.
I will say that this trade is going to be the make or break move of his GM tenure in KC though. [Reply]

We got a better player than anyone we could have gotten (most likely) at #29. Some people on here are placing way too much value on a late 1st round pick (essentially it’s a high 2nd). We really only gave up the worst of our 2nds next year for a high end pass rusher. This is a much better deal in retrospect.
Swapping out Ford and his comp pick and the 29th pick for a young proven player seems like a good move to me. Especially when all I’ve heard from the draftniks was there was nobody worth a 1st rounder after pick 16. [Reply]
We needed more immediate talent on defense. Doesn't seem like Veach felt we were going to acquire that in the draft. The guy said the team is in win-now mode and this move speaks to that. I don't love the compensation but it's not that far off. If we had given up the 49ers 2020 2nd, I'd feel a lot worse.
And as Pugs points out - this should portend good things for Hill as I have some real difficulty thinking Clark Hunt would give the okay for this trade if Hill were on his way out.
We just got a lot closer to winning the Super Bowl next year. [Reply]
