Edit: he sent me this picture, not an actual bottle of this stuff.
I lucked out and bought my bottle on a day the liquor store gives 15% off craft beer, and the clerk just gave me 15% my entire cart, so my bottle ended up at $67. First time I've ever gotten the discount on liquor on beer day. [Reply]

Yeah, and that system sucked too. Check out tiptop25.com for more details. In fact, the AP Poll back then sometimes stopped before all regular season games were finished! (Rare occurrence)
The difference is, the 2020 season was interrupted and then cancelled. While in football terms, the regular seasons were usually concluded.
But hey if Kansas can claim it if they want. Loads of universities have interesting titles. It is a better claim than 1941 Alabama for football. [Reply]

Oh, I know. And I'm not arguing. Still seems a little cheap. Just sucks that KU was not able to actually prove it on the court because of this damn pandemic. [Reply]

The regular season was completed. They were starting the conference tournaments when everything got canceled. [Reply]

Personally, I don't claim it as a true national championship.
However, it is fun to rub in the noses of those who are easily triggered. [Reply]

Exactly... it's a lighthearted claim to a NC that will never be.
We get it's lame and thats kind of the point. It's not like there's a banner in AFH, and if there was, I'd just laugh at that, too (along with my wine bottle :-)).
However, I would say it's different than say hanging a banner for a Sweet Sixteen appearance simply because Kansas did everything it could that year. It's not some "we made it further than ever before even if we didn't win it all!"... they did everything possible to claim a NC by being the best team in the field and it's not their fault the tourney for canceled.
They wouldn't be celebrated coming up short but still having a good year, because they were literally the best team at the end. :-) [Reply]

The regular season was completed, and they were #1 in every rating system.
I don't think many KU fans are serious about claiming a title. It's just something that's used to trigger people and it works every time.
I will say, though, that the NCAA probably should have awarded a champion or recognized it in some way, rather than having no champion. I can guarantee that if the same thing had happened in CFB and there was a clear #1 team, that fanbase would demand to be recognized by the NCAA, claiming it's no different than what they'd done for decades. It's funny how different the fan approach is to basketball.
I get the argument from both sides, but I don't really agree with the "tourney title is the only way" approach. I think that unusual circumstances call for unusual solutions.

Are you from CA? Just curious.
You are right. I forgot it all went down during conference tournaments. My team was already shot to hell by that point so I was focused on softball.
I am surprised the NCAA didn't do something but I am sure it was lost in the shuffle once permanence set in.
I would be OK if Kansas claimed it. It would feel strange but it is not a ridiculous claim. Just feels like Kansas has such a proud basketball history that they wouldn't need to claim a title.
