The jocks (dj's) took pride in being able to cue up a record... lay it down, dust it off, spin it and find the first note and turn it half a turntable backwards to cue it up (half a turn back on the table gets the player to speed by the first note). We had competitions to see who could do it the fastest and most accurate. If you could do it all as the previous song started to fade and not have any dead air you were the shit and I was the shit.

I do. I have 6 Kiss albums and a host of assorted stuff. I still listen to it all from time to time. Digital recordings on a cd can't touch the richness of needle on vinyl. I even still buy new vinyl of my favorite artists when they press them. Pearl Jam does as well as my favorite country artist Jamey Johnson. [Reply]

I still have one too. I bought an all-in-one Fischer component system back in 1990, it had to be one of the last ones ever manufactured with a turntable. Still have about dozen LPs left too. [Reply]
