But he doesn't play it all that well, and Sal plays a tougher position most of the time. Sal's OPS is about .140 higher.
Sometimes WAR doesn't look right, and that one doesn't look right. I assume it's about defense and the penalty Sal gets for 16 games at DH. Whit's replacement-level play at 2nd (and OF) shouldn't be considered that much more valuable.
bWAR is Salvy 2.4 / Whit 1.5, which seems more reasonable. [Reply]

It's not like they are just going on his word that he's too sore to play. They do MRIs or whatever else and can see if something is torn or strained.
I have no idea about his conditioning though or if that could help with the oblique thing he's had twice now (opposite sides of his body). [Reply]
