Guys wanna get to FA. I'd guess our guys do as well.
Feels like it happens with other teams more than us though. Look at DeVonta Smith, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell all signing extensions early recently. [Reply]

True, but look at what those guys got. I dunno if we're gung ho to make guys top of the market players.

Gonna be an interesting couple years.
Bolded are the ones I'd bring back. Obviously that depends on the deal. [Reply]

Smith will price out, IMO.
Pacheco has those Lindsay Lohan miles on him.
Cook just hasn't shown me much. Not enough to say yes or no, really.
Butker, Creed, McDuffie and Karlaftis are my priority guys. The rest are fringier players, players at positions of nominal importance or players where we've shown real strength at drafting replacements for them.
Then again, I never thought we'd bring back Danna and we did. So we do seem to be a little more interested in giving 2nd deals to middle class players than I would've been. I could see a couple of the other guys being retained as well. [Reply]

Not sure why I highlighted Smith. I didn't mean to include him. [Reply]

I'm shocked you wouldnt put Bolton in there. He's young, cheaper position and he's good. Tranquill isn't doing his job. He's smaller, older and has injury issues.
Chenal will take on Drue's money when drue leaves IMO. [Reply]

I'm not shocked that I fucked it up this morning. I meant to highlight Bolton and not Smith. [Reply]

They are going to keep Creed, Bolton, and Butker IMO. And for as much as I like Bolton, with the LB market what it is, I would not stress too much if he wanted to test the market. You have got to watch the overpay at that position.
You have 5th year options on George and Trent. That should help. I think you need to prepare yourself to watch guys like Cook, Pacheco, Chenal, and Thuney exit. The only guys who stay are the LBs and CBs who are open to fair contacts (see Mike Danna) [Reply]

If that's what Karlaftis asks for, I let him test the market.
I mean highest paid at his position is Parsons/Bosa. I like George but he ain't THAT. Or anything like it.
He's a really nice secondary pass rusher but he's not someone you build a defense around.
As for McDuffie - yeah, probably. Try to get him signed before Gardner if possible. [Reply]

I don't think George is that either, but with the seasons he's stacked up....if he progresses from year 2 to year 3 like 1-2......I don't see how he doesn't come asking for that.
Now you'd have a year, the 5th year option and a tag year so there's leverage there, but yeah. [Reply]

McDuffie yes, Karlaftis no. There is a substantial gulf between those 2. [Reply]
Love the player, but he won’t last. Don’t love paying running backs anyway, but his style of play is even less conducive to longevity than other backs.
If you could flip out of him a year early for a mid round pick, I’d consider it. Or (preferably) just run him into the ground and let him walk. Then, maybe he comes back on a 1-year deal if no one pays him. [Reply]
