Media Center>Must Watch Series
Buehler445 08:54 AM 04-26-2012
All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

Spoiler!

Here is a listing of shows on my list to watch (mostly due to this thread)

I work a fuckton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

UPDATED for the shows I've seen recently.

I can't wait for season 4.
How did you lose those?

Dude, that last episode was intense. I haven't minded the acting, Harold Perrineau is so underrated.

I'm kinda bummed we gotta wait until 2026 (presumably) for the next season.

The Agency on Showtime (Paramount Plus) with Fassbender is pretty solid after the first 2 episodes.

Only 10 episodes made, but now it’ll turn into multiple seasons.

I watched the first one - man, that first episode has some really slow pacing.

But I'm going to stick with it because the cast is pretty outstanding. Hard not to give it a shot.

The second one picks up the pace.

And if I recall, you might listen to some of the podcasts about prestige TV and they all love The Bureau which is the French series this all based upon. There's no way this series will be too bad with this cast and that source material.

Severance (which I just finished binging this week) season 2 comes out the 17th. Wild this took 3 years for one season.

Three episodes in with "Based on a True Story" on Peacock - and thoroughly enjoying it.

Kaley Cuoco is so easy on the eyes.

It's a limited series, just 6 episodes, but Black Doves is really good.

I hadn't heard about it but it came up on my Netflix feed, so it's a British spy flick. There is some decent spycraft in there with some mad passionate violence (which I'm here for).

The writing is really tight. There are a couple :-) moments and characters, but it's tight. Nothing was obvious, and it was pretty aggressive in it's ambition. To the point at which it could have sucked pretty easily. But the acting and direction and probably editing, kept it moving.

Now, it's one that you have to pay attention to. This time of year, a lot of what I have on is mindless because I'm in the office so much, but this is not that.

I'd really recommend it.

Between COVID and the strikes, it's more common than you think. Lots of shows have been on hiatus for the last couple of years. I mean look at Stranger Things. The kids all grew into adults and season 5 is just now about to air.

I'm re-watching Severance in prep for the new season and recommend doing the re-watch if you haven't already

Loved it the first time through but there are so many gold mine lines that I'd either forgotten or didn't notice that I'm loving it even more the second time through

Just finished this and it was really good. A few things didn't make much sense and I kept thinking about, but the main thing was that Helen is married to the Secretary of Defense, so you'd think more people would notice who she is and would tell on her.
