The only thing I can think of is that Hos got a very questionable strike call up 2-0 against Bum. Going from 3-0 to 2-1 completely changed that AB and inning.
But, I personally don’t put that loss on the umps. Wade got a similarly generous strike call in Game 6 against the Jays the next year. [Reply]

Yeah, I gotta say, the 2014 WS has been discussed and reviewed ad infinitum here and throughout any recent baseball history forum/podium/medium. This is the first time I've heard or read anything about bad umpiring. [Reply]

KC lost that WS because nobody, and I mean NOBODY on the team could hit Bumgartner.
Yeah, 'bad umping' had nothing to do with the 2014 WS loss. It was Mother****ing Bumgartner and that's it. Nothing more.
I can also make an arugment that if the Royals didn't lose that series and Game 7 the way they did, you may not see the same team in 2015 and we don't win the trophy THAT year. Because of how that series went and how they lost, they came out in Spring Training 2015 with a laser focus eyes on the prize approach that you rarely see from a baseball team.
Don't think you would see them motivated the same way if they had raised the Trophy in 2014. Obviously, we'll never know for sure but just my opinion.
But I wouldn't change anything about how things went those 2 years. My BEST two years as a sports fan, in my entire life, bar none! Still gives me goosebumps thinking about some of those moments over that 2 year period . . . . . . . [Reply]
