We have nobody who can drive to the basket and create their own shot. Its literally run the offense and hope to get an open look or get it to Dickinson down low while he gets doubled. [Reply]
KU sits 19th in KenPom right now. They're either the greatest outlier we've ever seen in that formula or, yeah, they aren't that great and a bottom tier Self team.
Now I think the team's ceiling is high when they are focused and playing well (which the starters haven't been able to do consistently outside of the UConn game), but I would lean more towards the latter. McCullar/Dickinson is a tremendous duo but this group might have the worst depth of Self's entire era and that is holding them back.
Right now all it is going to take is one tournament game in March where one of your big four gets in foul trouble and you're pretty much done. [Reply]

Should be using Dickinson a lot more as a high screen and roll guy rather than in the post (which gets incredibly congested when the other teams simply ignore KJ). He's skilled enough and a good enough shooter to play that role well. It would have helped solve the Diallo problem the other day. [Reply]

Self needs to bench Elmarko and start Furphy. See if he can get a consistent outside shot going. But, thats never going to happen. [Reply]

Self’s challenge is figuring out a way around the Mussleman strategy that tanked us last season. [Reply]

He literally announced that’s what is happening today, so we will see tomorrow what happens. [Reply]

Self gave him a lot of leeway and time to learn.
It can't get worse. Lottery pick talent or not, he has some learning to do at this level. That has been so obvious even to a pedestrian fan like myself.
We have to have another consistent 3 point shooter on the floor or like others have said, we ain't making it past the sweet 16. [Reply]
