NFL statement: “The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values. We condemn the statement and regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith or anyone else.” https://t.co/b9IUku9saH
I haven't followed this closely, but I think an interesting part of the story is who these emails were sent to, and why they released them. Can someone enlighten me on these things? [Reply]

My guess is that the first email leaked, and the rest of them were found by his employers when they looked into it. [Reply]

They were part of the investigation into the Redskins\Synder. His best buddy is Bruce Allen who was the GM\President of the Skins. [Reply]
There's some high level chess/checkers going on with Gruden. The league doesn't want to suspend him. The league wants the Raiders to fire him. The league likely will keep leaking more emails until the Raiders fire him.

Ohhhh, that's interesting. So Gruden just happened to be in the same foxhole when the mortar strikes came down. [Reply]
