Matt Cassel was the beginning of the end of 35 years of shitty QB's, loses in the playoff and the dawn of new era of Chiefs football.
It led to Andy Reid, Alex Smith, Brett Veach, winning football, first playoff win in 20+ years and finally........Patrick Mahomes III, our franchise QB 1st round pick.
He was the pain and sacrifice we had to endure. [Reply]

For me it was Elvis Grbac. I still spit whenever I hear the name "Elvis". [Reply]
This my unpopular opinion: I actually like Matt Cassel. While he was here he seemed like a good guy and did a lot out in the community. At his best he was average (2010) and the rest of the time he was well below that. You would have to have the 2000 Baltimore Ravens defense to win a Super Bowl with him at quarterback so he wasn't a long term answer. I would probably buy him a beer for the game he played against St. Louis in 2010 after he got his appendix taken out. The only players I don't care for are the guys who don't give it their all and also seem to despise the community. [Reply]
I kind of admire Cassell. He got paid a ton of money for tricking NFL teams. He was drafted solely because he was on the USC machine and NFL teams convinced themselves hey the back up might be good too. Then he sat behind Brady for years, easy gig. Then when Brady got hurt I think NE went 10-6 on one of the best put together teams ever. I think the year before that was the undefeated NE team so going to Brady to Cassell was worth like 5 or 6 games. NFL teams again convinced themselves that the NE Brady back up had to be good too and the Chiefs gave him one of the worst contracts in sports history. He stole money. Good for him. [Reply]

He was a good guy, no doubts. I think very few question that. He was just an atrocious QB and never should have been a starter. [Reply]
