For all things Royals in 2022. #3 minor league system according to Baseball America. The Bobby Witt era should begin this year. Will Salvy still be the homerun king? How does the glut of infield players work out? Will the young pitchers take the next step?

I lay the blame way more on Dayton than Matheny but some of it is just bad luck.

Lopez looked to be ascending last year.
Perez coming off a career year.
Keller looked to have rebounded.
Alot of potential in Staumont and Barlow.
Witt Jr has been ok but lets be honest hes underperformed.
Mondi hurt again.

The bad though...Dayton should have never gave Whit more money for no reason. He should have been traded for WHATEVER you can get a couple years ago.
Dozier was given a bad contract.
Should have traded Sanata last year for WHATEVER you could get.
Absolutely no reason Ohearn should be on the roster.

Combine all of that and this is what you get. I doubt Matheny has much say if they DFA OHearn or Sanatana or not. Thats the GMs dept.

Stop the presses but the Royals have knocked a starting pitcher out of the game in the first inning. Not even due to injury or a long rain delay but because of a terrible performance.

Why is it that the royals are winning. I am discombobulated

The eight runs scored today are a season-high for the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The team has scored more runs today than the first five games of this homestand combined. #Royals

Interesting read from Alec Lewis of the Athletic.

One National League scout recently flipped through his reports and landed on one from 2019. The pitcher: Jackson Kowar. The level: Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The most impressive pitch: 70-grade changeup. The pitch with the most potential: fastball. The pitch with the most development needed: breaking ball. The overall verdict: big upside.

Last spring, The Athletic’s Keith Law ranked Kowar as the fourth-best Royals prospect. He termed Kowar’s fastball “above-average”. Overall, he agreed that with his size and swing-and-miss pitch (his changeup), Kowar was a starter prospect with the potential to move quickly to the big leagues.

And move quickly, Kowar did. However, he did not remain in the big leagues long — not in 2021 nor during this season.

The Royals spoke optimistically about his progress this spring, and Kowar made the club out of camp. He pitched once in the Royals’ first series of the season, against Cleveland. In 3 1/3 innings, Kowar gave up 11 hits; the Guardians scored seven runs against him. The Royals optioned him the next day.

Much of the conversation relating to Kowar revolves around his fastball, and for good reason. But his slider is another piece to the puzzle, especially if he’s going to start consistently at the big-league level. Analysts have spoken highly of the metrics of his specific breaking ball, but the challenge of throwing it enticingly from strike-to-ball remains.

In general, Kowar acknowledged how much his perspective has grown in recent months and the past year. Growing up and even early in his minor-league career, he thought the arc would be linear. Talent, though, can take a pitcher only so far in professional baseball. This, he’s learned, as have many of the Royals’ other young pitchers.

“I kind of want to explain it as a bottleneck,” Kowar said. “The game just tightens up every level you go. The separating factors are a lot smaller, and it’s a lot harder to separate yourself at this level.

I think if I could give my young self advice, it would be this: You’ve got to be meticulous with the details even when the results are positive.”

Scoreboard, seems like the Sun was backing Santana and turned that 8th inning fly ball into a double. If the centerpiece of my favorite solar system is backing the boys in blue, why not me?:-)

Royals screwed up yesterday by winning. Could have had the record of 17-38. That's the lyrics in the song that Cain and all of them used to play.

Your post prompted me to google "1837" and main subject is the "Panic of 1837"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_of_1837

I suppose that is just a coincidence because nobody around here is in a panic over this baseball team.
