Mooney getting that hurts us to get anyone we think is good. We won't do a deal with that much money.

Which is it?

No one in the sign Mooney crowd wanted him at that rate. We're just fine over here.
Wut? He currently sucks AND he was going to be expensive. That's what I've been saying the whole time.

Let's revisit this:

Would I rather bring back James and Hardman, draft a rookie WR and still have money to sign 1-2 more players?

Or spend all of it on someone like Mooney.

Gimme those 3-4 players every single time.
Thirteen. Million. Dollars.

Lit. On. Fire.

Nah.

He's not a timing receiver; he's a jump ball guy and we don't do a lot of those. And he'd want at least what Ridley would get, who I think fits us better.

So if I could trade Sneed for a 2nd and sign Ridley at the same/lesser cost than Higgins, I'd go that route. The extra 2nd I get in the Sneed deal offsets that risk associated with Ridley over Higgins and the scheme fit ultimately gives the nod to Ridley at that point.

Wow - that's a shitload for a bounce-back candidate.

Hell, the Chiefs may have even really liked the guy, but not at $13 million. That's nutty.
Yep. This market is fucked

And they'd be right.

All for Diontae Johnson at $15 million for a year. Boost his stock and help him get paid again in 2025

It was about 30 minutes ago - but the extension is gonna be a tough scene after seeing Mooney get almost as much as I'd expect DJ to get.

Seriously. OTWP and I were pushing back on Mooney primarily because his price point would be way too high. I have no idea why folks thought he'd be available at the price point they were floating given a legitimate JAG scrub like Duverney that has never done anything ever got 6+ million AAV, but it was never realistic in this market.

He's going to get Christian Kirk money.

And honestly, Christian Kirk for Christian Kirk money is looking like a damn good ROI for the Jags at this point. If Diontae can be that, that would be fine.

I would not have been excited about that level of deal for Mooney.

But the fact that he got that deal says a lot about what teams around the league see... which is more "Josh Fields sucks and so does Luke Getsy, and Mooney's lack of production was about Fields' slow eyes and innaccuracy" than "he's washed up!"

Nah Gabe Davis is pretty fair for his resume. Duvernay at $4.25 million + incentives is fair as well.

There’s always one reerunned team every year

Or LG with Thuney out for quite a while. That’s where we need to be spending money is on the OL.
