Had they made that start with Mondesi in the lineup and performing at a high level, it would have been more believable. As mercurial as he is, a Mondesi that's producing at the plate makes this lineup a lot better and also solidifies the defense immensely.
This long skid has been characterized by bad luck, bad managerial decisions, players pressing/trying too hard, and poor execution by the players. The defense, particularly, has been victimized by stiff/tight play and uncharacteristic errors (which, I'm not going to lie, worries me. That was a staple of Matheny's time in St. Louis. It tips towards not doing a good job keeping his team loose - one area where a manager CAN make a difference and an area Ned Yost was elite at during KC's championship years).
I think this is a .500-ish team when it's all said and done that builds towards next year and takes steps. The Cleveland series looks to have "broken" some confidence that they haven't yet found again. [Reply]

Someone should make a video montage of "the streak" like they did in Moneyball but for the Royals. This is a historical achievement. It is beyond what we can understand. [Reply]
I was pretty surprised that he wasn't on the opening day roster. He showed some promise in his rookie year, and he's looking even better this year. Absolutely no excuse for him not to be in the rotation at this point. [Reply]
