So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]

So you've been complaining about him endlessly in this thread and you have no idea what you're talking about? I'm stunned.
Plus, also with the salary cap to likely see huge increases, I can understand OBJ turning that offer down and betting on himself. Just needs to play this year and next year on the franchise tag and then he’s a free agent. $$$$ has always been his #1 priority, it was with the Ravens and it is with the Chiefs. I just don’t get why he would hold out. I can understand the threat during negotiations but once the deadline expired, there is no benefit for holding out. He’s only risking the likelihood of a major injury the longer he stays out of camp. Hopefully he just misses a couple of days. [Reply]
I think the Chiefs offered him the right deal and OBJ was right for not signing the contract and betting on himself. I just think the guy is a moron for using this inexperienced and clueless agent and lose respect for him for not reporting on time. [Reply]

But yeah if he only got offered $38 million gauranteed it’s easy to see why he turned it down.
Well the word is the first two years were fully guaranteed and the last year had 0 guaranteed money and the later years were lacking in guaranteed dollars.

What happens if he gets hurt the first game...badly? [Reply]

But I don’t get the signing bonus and overall AAV? Here’s the Chiefs offer..
Signing bonus:
Williams-$30.1M
Stanley-$22.5M Brown Jr-$30.25M
AAV:
Williams-$23.01
Stanley-$19.5 M Brown Jr-$23.16M
Brown Jr wanting a $40M signing bonus and $25M AAV is absolutely fucking nuts.
Why does AAV mean anything? They could give him 100mm in year 6 to bump up the AAV, but if no one expects him to make it to year 6, what difference does it actually make?
His year 6 number already is much larger than the others which is why he's topping their AAVs to begin with. [Reply]

Then he'll get paid 16.6mm and probably be out for the entire season. And then he'll be a free agent and likely sign a deal that - combined with his franchise tag money - will be more in terms of guaranteed dollars.
The guy has missed 1 game in his entire career so let's not pretend he's some injury prone player who is highly likely to suffer this fate. [Reply]
If he does not get fined for missing if he has not signed the deal, and he has not signed the deal yet, I would not expect him to show up for a few days at least.
Brown is probably conferring with 65TPT on a script and production schedule for his trip to St. Joe, if he plans on showing up in St. Joe.
If he has signed the deal, then he will show up on time. If he has not signed yet. He should goof off for a few days at least. [Reply]
