Do we know how much Sherman attends Moore's bible study group?

Does he adhere to a strict, no masturbation policy?

Jesus, this thread is demoralizing. Not because of you guys posting this shit, but because of the realization every. freaking. day. of how bad it is. And how bad the future outlook is with this cast running things. And the understanding that more than likely there won't be real changes for years to come.

Fuck.

Feel Sherman misjudged Moore & Co being able to not bottom out the franchise while he facilitates a downtown stadium.

Agree. He does deserve that. He could heat up at any moment. Or perhaps he has a bad year, but makes the ASG next season. Nobody knows.

HOWEVER: there is one man paid to know. That’s Skunkhead. At the time of Salvy’s extension (March 2021), FG did an analysis found here:
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/salvador...-while-longer/

Essentially the ZIPS projections on him were 6.2 WAR. (2.3, 1.9, 1.3, 0.7). At $8M per win that suggests a $49M deal. Not $82M. That’s a massive overpay based on widely known industry metrics and he gave it to him anyway.

Now, Salvy went out and had a career year as you mentioned. His updated ZIPS went way up: 3.7, 3.0, 2.3. That gets you to the $82M. But from what you can see, which projection is looking more likely ?

30 years between World Series wins. Check in around 2045.

Santana just sucks. It's dumb to compare the two.
Yeah, he hurt his back lifting that $55 million....

Royals also got double the value from Salvy from what they paid him the last 4 years and that is missing a year as well. Got a hell of return on that last contract

Untrue. They gave him a 6/$52 deal after 2015 and he returned $58 in value. So fairly paid.

That’s the wrong way to look at is tho. Bad teams pay for past performance. Good teams pay for future performance.

The Santana thing makes no sense. Even if he gets hot, after his last calendar year and his contract, he's untradeable (I guess maybe we could eat 90% of his salary instead of 100% or something in a trade, but come on). The Vinnie at-bat thing makes no sense, either. It's almost as if Dayton Moore is trying to get fired.

Correct.

They missed their opportunity with moving Santana last season. No takesie-backsies there.

Re: the at-bat thing, that's Picollo trying to GM speak and not say the actual reason they're not looking at those guys for promotions (see my first paragraph).

You'd think having a PR director like Sam Mellinger would help them craft an explanation that is a little harder to immediately discredit than the AB thing...

Or maybe Vinnie and Pratto are both serial masturbators?
