I asked Chiefs GM Brett Veach two weeks ago at the NFL Combine on his approach to address DL:
“It’s a little bit tricky, we don’t have a ton of (cap) space,” he said. “But I kind of like where the depth of this draft is, and I think we’ll have some opportunities.”#Patience
Still made a nice push for Z Smith though. For a 29 year player who barely played last year, he still got paid pretty well. I hope he sends Veach a Christmas card this year. [Reply]

A push? There wa sno report that he chose us over the ravens. All that was said is that we were interested [Reply]
I am very over the Chiefs trading draft capital to acquire players they have to pay top of market deals.
The roster is always top heavy, the young talent injection has fewer swings, and you rely on the guys you bet on to produce/stay healthy in a volatile sport.

This is where I'm at. Sign a few guys in green agency who can contribute the next few years. Reid is a great example of that, hit it out of the park with a couple of your premium picks, use the rest to build depth. Get your cap in order to retain talent, then in 2 or 3 years when a key contributor like Kelce has aged then use that money saved up to get a big free agent acquisition [Reply]

I agree. We can’t keep trading first round picks for expensive players. [Reply]
What kind of cap hit would Hunter carry in 2022? As others have said the Vikings have no other choice they have to unload his contract and soon. What other AFC contenders need and have the means necessary to go after him? I think Veach could pull off a trade for nickels on the dollar. I dont think it would take pick #30. [Reply]
