I know I refer to him a lot on here, but Middlekauf's pod is one of my favs right now. He was talking on 3 and 10 about how some of these coaches get branded SB winners after they win 1 and it just sticks with them. Like Harbaugh. Yeah, he's a SB winning coach. Is anyone taking him over Andy right now?
I hope Andy wins 1 for some validation. He's a really fucking good football coach.
Maybe if he had ran the ball in the second half of those 2 playoff games in KC, with an 18 point lead, or ran the ball more in those NFC Championship games more he would have one.
He is a great offensive mind and a can be a great play caller, but he has some serious deficiencies as a Head Coach. Maybe Mahomes is the player he needed to make his playoff strategy of passing the ball with a lead, and stopping the clock unnecessarily finally work.

Maybe if they converted a few more 3rd downs they'd have had enough plays to grind clock.
KC wasn't up 21 points with a quarter left. You can't just run the ****ing clock out on an 18 point halftime lead.
You can't blame 0 second half points on the running game. KC wasn't in position to just run clock in the 3rd quarter. They still needed their QUARTERBACK to make plays.
And that same QB STILL had the ball in his hands with a chance to win at the end and he ****ing blew it.
Stop making excuses for him. 0% chance Mahomes blows that lead with the same playcalls. Alex plays SCARED when he has a lead and becomes ultra mega conservative, and if often leads to 2nd halves where he has 40 yards on 12 attempts and the team goes 0 for whatever on 3rd down. It's a PATTERN. We humans are pattern recognizing animals. Recognize this pattern! [Reply]
It's funny that people get on Andy for throwing it too much, but if he were to go run run run punt we'd go full on Herm.
I think hes a great head coach. He gets in his own way with clock management and playcalling on Sundays at times, but Monday-Saturday he's as good as there is or has been. [Reply]
Yeah, clock management is the spot we need to work on and maybe as Mahomes gets more experience he'll make up for Andy's weakness there. Look at the Pats Superbowl wins and how many were decided by less than a Touchdown. You don't think clock management plays a huge factor there? Hell, the game we lost this year was because they had the ball at the end. Not saying Tyreek shouldn't have scored when he did but teams that move through the playoffs know how to manipulate the clock to their benefit to close out games. Andy has never figured that part out. Maybe his quarterback will recognize that and work to fix it. [Reply]

I could throw into that window. That window is huge. [Reply]

I love this. Trent was the opposite of a "check-down" on 3rd down guy.
What's so exciting about Pat is that he has the arm strength to fit those throws in second level windows (15-25 darts) - and while Trent would try to thread those needles, sometimes they would end up in picks due to his arm. [Reply]
