Nzoner's Game Room>Defense Appreciation Thread

Long overdue.

They are legit, and they're getting a big piece back next week with Omenihu.

I know all the focus is on the WRs, but it's a real shame that these guys aren't the story of the season.

Points allowed by the Chiefs defense through the first 9 games since 2018:

2018: 226
2019: 203
2020: 183
2021: 227
2022: 212
2023: 134

Damn. All we need is for the offense to score 20+ points consistently, and this defense can carry us to the Super Bowl. Surely they can do that...

Another thing to ponder on vs Dolphins offense. The Dolphins had a short field all game and still held them to 14 points. That's got to be remarkable thing to do.

Would’ve been only 11 if Jones just walks off the field

Chiefs forced Tua Tagovailoa to hold on to the ball for 2.5+ seconds on 16 of 34 pass attempts, his highest share in a game this season per @NextGenStats.

KC pressured Tua on a season-high 29% of his snaps. Timing such a key part of Dolphins offense & KC disrupted it.

My God look at that difference from Bob Suttons 2018 squad.

Even more impressive is that this group has been doing this without Nick Bolton in the lineup for a lot of these games. The Drue Tranquil signing was massive.

Mitch talked about how this D was reaching 1990's D level.

Not so sure about that but they are shutting people down.
I will let others stat up about that.

The Mike Edwards signing is very underrated. Playing all those rookies last year is now paying massive dividends.

When is Bolton due back, or is he? Man, that will put the cherry on top of this D.

Tranquill has been a godsend with Bolton out. Chenal is coming into his own, as well.

Everyone should remember that, and apply the hope for the WR corps.

Chenal is why BPA is almost always THE way to go in the draft. We didn't NEED him, but he was too good to pass up at that point.

That kind of patience and perspective ain't what we do around here, partner.
