Breaking: FA DT Charles Omenihu is signing a two-year, $20M max deal with the #Chiefs, sources tell @theScore.

He's coming off his best season, tallying 16 quarterback hits and 28 initial pressures with #49ers. Omenihu's only 25 years old.

We don't actually. I'd kind of like one, but Spags defense usually doesn't carry many niche type players. He values multi-purpose guys much more. Whatever EDGE we end up with, wherever we get him from, he'll be a 3-down guy that play the run and rush the passer, play inside and outside.

Is there an organization out there that would have cut Hill after he was investigated thoroughly and never charged with a crime? Were they supposed to cut Clark for having a gun in his vehicle? What exactly are these idiots bitching about? As far as I know, the new guy hasn't even been charged yet.

Strange that you never saw these people crying when Denver invited Brandon Marshall back after his 5,000th crime. Or Rod Smith and the other dirtbags who committed domestic violence while on their roster. They not only looked the other way, but did so numerous times with the same guys. And where was the outrage when Cleveland snatched up Hunt? Or Watson? Or the numerous other players convicted of major crimes that are snatched up without hesitation.
No shit. Totally agree.

This time around they went younger, lower dollars, higher upside. I like it.

That seems to be the pattern with Veach and I love it. He really seemed to learn from his early mistakes both in the draft and free agency. Which is why, I assume, we didn't sign Brown to a huge deal.

Adebawore seems to fit this bill to a T.

It's PFF, so take it with a grain of salt and stupidity, but they listed him right after Hargrave in their column today on the 5 best free agent signings so far. Guess which big-spending team didn't make the cut? (hint: rhymes with 'the Donks')

EDGE CHARLES OMENIHU SIGNED BY THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Contract: Two years, $20,000,000
Frank Clark may have been known for turning it on in the playoffs, but he had been remarkably ineffective overall for Kansas City since they traded for him, and moving on from him made a lot of sense. Rookie George Karlaftis generated some pressure last season, but almost all of it was slow-developing or hustle plays.

Charles Omenihu has now recorded a PFF pass-rushing grade of at least 75.6 in back-to-back seasons and posted 62 pressures last year for the 49ers, six more than anybody on the Chiefs managed from the edge. For $10 million a season, Omenihu is a great value addition who could easily be the team’s best edge rusher.

62 pressures last year? That has to be a mistake. He wasn't even a full time player.

If it's legit, holy shit.

Well in the sense of "do we need this to win a SB?" obviously not. But it's so clearly a massive missing piece and the way to make this DL better, alongside a DT that can actually stand up against the run. Spags has his multi-purpose guys now, not sure he needs that more than a speed rusher. We have 4 guys that can line up anywhere. We have noone who wins quickly from the edge.

I get it. I would like a speed rusher, personally. Just saying, Spags doesn't value speed rushers that much, probably because most are kind of small, and you tend to bring them in mostly in passing situations, and Spags doesn't like doing that, apparently.

Yep, absolutely true, I'm definitely not holding my breath for a 240lb DE speed specialist...but I can dream!
