Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

26 years old, missed 1 start, made the pro bowl as a RT and LT. Pay up.

Let Joe Thuney block for our 250 million dollar QB!

You're full of shit.

Please, please, please share these lists.

Or list the LT in football you think are clearly better than him. LT. Not RT. LT.

Clark said don't trade out of the first he didn't say don't trade up. I just don't know the ammo we will have to move up and target the best. Sitting at 32nd in the draft I hope there isn't an early run on LT.

Well, in all fairness, if we really are sitting at #32 come the 2023 draft then I’d say we figured out the LT position pretty well (be that Brown or someone else) this season and the need for a big ‘move up’ in the first round really isn’t warranted.

Not when you’re hoisting another Lombardi.

Wrong. How about you find me a list that says he's a top 10 LT. There isn't one and that why Veach didn't cave. He isn't that good.

Wtf are you going on about? Veach offered him more money on average than any LT and his signing bonus was more than Trent Williams

Schefter's such a peon. Brown turned down an “aggressive” offer? With no reported guaranteed coin beyond $30.25M and funny money he’d never see at the end? Balt gave Stanley $64M in guaranteed coin. Tunsil got $40M in guaranteed coin.

It is all about guaranteed money. Players are wising up to the fluff years.

From @ByNateTaylor

The contract that Orlando Brown's camp wanted was around these numbers:

6 years for $139M
$33-34M in signing bonus
$71M fully guaranteed (more than Ronnie Stanley)

Dude

You do understand that the deals get larger as time goes on, right?

And structure of the deal is everything?

I don't know what the team thinks about Brown, but he's clearly a better than average LT.

You're wrong, and this is a bad football take.

He is better than average for sure, but he's closer to average than #1. IMO, the contract Veach offered was very fair for what OBJ has shown thus far. It was a far better than average LT contract for a better than average LT. I'm glad Veach didn't cave. I wanted OBJ to play on the tag this season. It gives KC time to plan for whichever way this goes.
