Watched Gone Girl. What a weird movie. Still not sure how I feel about it... but not in a good way.
I guess I could see it as a hyperbolic comment on the dysfunction underlying most modern marriage... but it just seemed like lazy writing, in all honesty. [Reply]

That's a great short summary. I read the book, but haven't watched the movie. The end was just lazy. The "good guy" doesn't have to win, but that was a very lazy way to end it. [Reply]

If anything it was more engaging than most "dramas" in the last year.
Hell, it actually inspired conversation (which is good.) [Reply]

Gonna try and watch Mad Men now. First two episodes are a little boring though. The misogyny is a fun thing, however. :-)
Orange is a good show but not one of the GOAT. Mad men, however is. [Reply]

I really liked the movie until the end. That just ruined it. Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]

Neither OitNB nor MM should be judged by how much one show is like the other.
OitNB is contemporary and immediate
MM is a contemplative recreation of an era that led us to today.
The strengths of each have little to no bearing on the aims of the other.
It's like trying to decide if you like a Porterhouse steak or a hand churned Gelatto better. [Reply]
