Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources.

The outline of the deal is already in place. Brown said he wanted a long term extension from the team that trades for him and it won’t be a hard deal to structure due to his age.
This is literally better than best case scenario and opens up the whole draft. [Reply]
I'm chuffed at the news, and impressed at the negotiation. But I can't help feeling we don't want to underestimate Brown's, . . . whether it's dissatisfaction or ambition, who knows, role in this getting done.
If in the end it turns out that Brown COULD have been retained by the Ravens and it was solely Bruce Valanch's hard charging negotiation skills that forced it through, I'll admit I misread. But this seems a bit of the Ravens having an asset that was valuable to everyone but them, and BV IDed it and finessed it well. [Reply]

IF for some reason it doesn’t work out, like it turns out he’s not a great fit, then you can move on and cut your losses of basically a mid 2nd round pick.
If it does work out, extend or tag him.
Couldn't disagree more. Not having an extension agreed to before the trade is finalized is fucking ridiculous. If there's any doubt that he isn't the long term answer at LT, don't make the fucking trade to begin with. It's even worse if Garofolo is actually correct and the Chiefs don't plan to open talks to extend him until after this year. That's how you end up completely resetting the market for a position. Wow, that's a big trade. If he's able to play the left side, I like it. Every tenth of a second extra that Mahomes has in the pocket is probably worth 50 points over the course of the season. [Reply]

They are going to have to pay Lamar... so they moved Brown. Will likely draft his replacement... not a bad financial move on their part either in a deep OL class. [Reply]
