— I believe Patrick Mahomes is the Chiefs' QB1 from what I’ve heard, but Deshaun Watson makes sense as well. They’ll need to trade up for both. If they stay at 27, the one quarterback whom they could shockingly have interest in is Davis Webb of California. They’ve also shown interest in Nathan Peterman and Brad Kaaya, but likely don’t value either as top-two rounders.
Now, the writer of this got all of his info in the article from speaking to FO people and scouts at the combine. You can question the validity, but the Chiefs did meet with all of the players mentioned at the combine.
If this report is accurate, the Chiefs could indeed be on the path to Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson holding up their jersey in 7 weeks in Philadelphia. [Reply]

I think it's next year.
You are just gonna piss yourselves off and we will have another Geno Smith situation.
It's not fun.
No one in their right mind is getting "worked up" over KC drafting a QB. We have all come to expect sub-par retardery when it comes to the Chiefs and QB's. [Reply]

If that plan blew up, try again in a different year.
The problem with Chiefs fans is that whenever a QB crisis occurs when they can absolutely no longer roll with the current veteran because he's washed up/suck too much, they act like they have to solve the problem NOW. INSTANTLY.
They don't think about QB development as a multi-year process. It's like Carl stepped down from GMing, but instead went into the business of mind control lasers, and he's got everybody thinking his way is the best.
Thus, you get all the, "Gee, I'd love to draft a QB, but there's no Andrew Luck available at 27th overall! Next year is a better class, maybe we'll get one then!" And it's also how you get, "I don't like what Alex Smith is doing, but what should the Chiefs have done, exactly?"
Uhh... how about plan ahead? But since they didn't do that, they should just be fucking patient.
Why would the Raiders trade Palmer to a division rival? Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]

Only if they like him a ton and it would take more picks than we have to get far enough up. In 4 drafts he has not once traded up in the first two rounds for anyone that I recall. Even if we move back it feels like 2 defensive players will be the first two picks. When you are in cap hell and can't sign any vets to fill needs all you can do is draft or trade. He never trades so we will pick. [Reply]

Fair enough, but we've always brought in a veteran QB to fill the backup spot instead of training a rookie.
Daniel and Foles
Have we ever even had a young QB on the active roster during the regular season? [Reply]

Which is why I was pretty surprised when I got beaten down around here for suggesting that the Chiefs should trade Foles during Preseason when teams lost their starters and where desperate to trade.
"we can't trade Foles, we might need him"
"we can't trade Foles, it might hurt his feelings after wanting to play for Reid"
"we can't trade foles .............
Vikings gave a 1st and 4th(conditional 3rd) for Bradford when he was considered a total mess and injury disaster.
How much would an extra 1st rounder be worth to use right now? Hell, even an extra 2nd would be trade-up gold.
Chiefs could have 'planned ahead' be in great shape to trade anywhere they wanted in this draft. [Reply]

I believe that Murray was our 3rd QB and a game day inactive his entire time with the Chiefs.
3rd QBs even if inactive on game day are still on the active roster Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]

It's always next year......I don't remember a time when the Chiefs interviewed six rookie QB's pre-draft since I started following in 1990, but I could be wrong.
No, I think they are gunning for AS replacement in 2018. Whether it all works is an entirely different story.. [Reply]
