Have been banned from the other thread by an apparently sensitive snowflake (ironically after dozens of pages of political discussion from others) so I'll stick my thoughts on the NBA Playoffs here from now on. We needed a new thread anyway. [Reply]

Not really. If they weren't good enough to win this round, they weren't beating Phoenix. Let alone winning the Finals. Playoffs only get tougher the deeper you go. If you can't win in the second round, you're not a legit contender. Especially when the other team was down their best player. Clearly Utah wasn't ready for the moment. They need some experienced winners on that team. They'll never draw big free agents because they play in Utah. Wouldn't hurt to get a more athletic big man and a backup PG.
Regarding injuries, they have their own with Conley and Mitchell. No telling how long before they aggravated their injuries had they advanced. [Reply]

Oh, I absolutely agree they aren’t good enough. That’s been obvious for years and that’s the point. But if they ever were going to do anything in the playoffs, it would have been when every single other contending team was either eliminated or faced significant injuries like this year. You’re not getting a second shot at facing a depleted Clippers team without Kawhi or being lucky enough to dodge the Lakers because AD got hurt. That’s as good as it gets for them. [Reply]

It's absurd to me that he isn't allowed to play anyway given that he and the vast majority of the rest of the league are vaccinated (are we really going to keep players who test positive with a coronavirus out of games for the rest of time?), but that's another issue. [Reply]
