I did not get to watch it so what happened they collapsed on Hunter. [Reply]

Harris was 0-4 from the field.
Dickinson was 11-14 on 2 point field goals. He was extremely effective regardless.
We only attempted 14 3’s as a team. Once they weren’t falling, we seemed very hesitant to try. We even passed up a few open ones to keep moving the ball (maybe not the worst idea).
Furphy and Timberlake will need to keep shooting from deep. They’re the most pure shooters on the team. [Reply]
Self knows a hell of a lot more than me, but playing both Juan and KJ at the same time in the year 2023 of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ seems like modern basketball malpractice. Two guys that can’t shoot clogs up the floor. There’s no spacing. I’d bench KJ and start Furphy to at least get the threat of a shooter. But I’m not the HOF coach lol. Someone else needs to step up though no matter what. Not sure who. [Reply]

I agree and I think KJ would be a really good 6th man. You could pick and choose where to sub him.
He could go to the 4 and we could move Furphy to the 3 if we want to take out Elmarko or Dajuan. He could just go to the 4 in place of Furphy. He could spell Dickinson at the 5 if needed too. His versatility and defense could be an asset as the 6th man. [Reply]
When this team shoots well from 3, they’ll blow out bad-good teams and beat other great teams.
When this team shoots poorly from 3, it’s going to be a dog fight against good teams or when bad teams catch fire from 3.
I heard a few stats on the radio today. Coming into tonight, we had the highest team field goal percentage in the Big 12 AND the lowest team field goal percentage allowed defensively in the Big 12. Also, we’re leading the nation in assists per game. Those are very promising stats for the team, and makes us scary when a couple guys are on from 3. [Reply]

It's not just that. People are focusing on Furphy's shooting but also forgetting he does little else. He has 3 assists all year. 0 blocks. 4 steals. He's averaging 2 rebounds a game since the UK game. He isn't a particularly skilled ball handler and I don't think he has any post moves to speak of. The UT game kind of shines a light on what his game is right now. He played 11 minutes and hit two shots but did literally nothing else on the stat line except pick up a foul. For a guy that isn't quite there on defense, he needs to contribute in other ways, but that isn't happening. His shooting has also regressed. Since the UK game he has taken 2 more 3s than Timberlake but only made one more in total. Considering how bad Timberlake has been, that isn't exactly a good thing.
I think Self would be open to moving KJ around in the lineup but the fact is that despite his deficiencies, KJ is simply a better option overall than anyone else we have. [Reply]
KU played a couple of top 10 teams last week and Kentucky the week before. Plus, they have the defending national champ in 3 days. This looked like the classic letdown game. Also, I wonder if that team would be ranked that low if their PG had not been injured. His first game back was last night and he was really good.
Not making excuses. The Jayhawks need to play better. But this should not have been completely unexpected. Let's see what they look like on Friday. [Reply]
Also, I did like what I saw from Timberlake (I think he just needs to gain a little confidence) and Furphy. IMO, Furphy could end up being pretty good on both ends. It looks to me like the effort is there. He just needs to learn the fundamentals of playing good D. [Reply]
