NFL statement: “The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values. We condemn the statement and regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith or anyone else.” https://t.co/b9IUku9saH

The Raiders have to fire him those maybe worse than the first email especially with a openely gay player on his team. How can you lead a team now? [Reply]

Let’s be clear. This isn’t as simple as being thin skinned. It’s actively using one’s skin color as a cover for any criticism or insults. It’s intentional, manipulative, and all too common. [Reply]
No offense, but when you find news like this indulge us and take the extra step to find a source other than the NYT.
Not that it's outright false, or that we're doubting the accuracy even, necessarily. Just that a world with less references to and traffic around that odious institution is an improved world. [Reply]
There's some high level chess/checkers going on with Gruden. The league doesn't want to suspend him. The league wants the Raiders to fire him. The league likely will keep leaking more emails until the Raiders fire him.
